Ashley Freeman

Ashley joined Horizons SHU as Academic Director in 2019 and became Executive Director in 2021. She holds degrees in Biological Foundations of Animal Behavior, Elementary Education, and Reading and Literacy Instruction, and has an EdD in SEL and Academic Leadership. Ashley has spent her entire teaching career in Bridgeport and has over a decade of experience with Horizons programs.
Mary Wanyo

Mary is a seasoned educator with over 30 years of experience, most recently teaching at The Learning Community Day School in Westport. She specializes in project-based learning and values child-centered teaching and the intentional use of language in education.
Jazmin Powell
High School Program Manager

Jazmin is a student affairs and education professional with over 15 years of experience supporting students and families across K–12 education, higher education, and community-based programs. She holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Sacred Heart University and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal and Professional Studies from Mitchell College. As a first-generation college graduate herself, Jazmin is passionate about helping students recognize their potential, navigate their educational journey, and build the relationships and support systems they need to succeed.
