Ashley Freeman
Executive Director
Ashley joined Horizons SHU as Academic Director in 2019 and became Executive Director in 2021. She holds degrees in Animal Behavior, Elementary Education, and Reading and Literacy Instruction, and is currently pursuing an EdD in SEL and Academic Leadership. Ashley has spent her entire teaching career in Bridgeport and has over a decade of experience with Horizons programs.
Amanda Baez
Operations Manager
Originally from The Bronx, NY, Amanda brings over 13 years of experience working in education, supporting youth across a wide range of communities. She has worked in classrooms and programs throughout Connecticut, Boston, and Providence, connecting with students from early childhood through college. Amanda is committed to creating welcoming environments where all students can grow, explore, and succeed.
Mary Wanyo
Program Manager
Mary is a seasoned educator with over 30 years of experience, most recently teaching at The Learning Community Day School in Westport. She specializes in project-based learning and values child-centered teaching and the intentional use of language in education.
Ryan Beck
Marketing and Events Coordinator
A recent graduate of Sacred Heart University with a degree in Media Studies, Ryan brings two years of experience in finance and sales, where they honed skills in project management, client relations, and attention to detail. This foundation now supports their passion for marketing and event planning, allowing them to craft impactful campaigns and memorable experiences. They thrive in fast-paced environments and are eager to contribute to brand growth through creative outreach and engaging events.
Roneè Carroll
High School Coordinator
With a Bachelor of Science in Child Studies, Roneè has spent the past several years leading and designing engaging youth programming focused on leadership development, academic support, and social-emotional growth. They have proudly coordinated youth programs for over four years and have worked hands-on with students from diverse backgrounds.
